While 2014 was a great year for me, first year at a real engineering job, and getting accepted into the PhD program, and right before Christmas I got word that a paper I submitted to a systems conference was accepted. So needless to say it was very eventful. For those curious, the paper that I submitted, covered controller design for spacecraft which was the main topic of my Master's thesis. I basically created a State Feedback Controller and a Fuzzy Logic Controller and compared their results. I'll post more about the paper and the conference once I submit the final draft in February.
Classes start up next Monday so I'm pretty excited to be back in school, but more importantly I am excited about working in the ACE (Autonomous Control Engineering) Lab at UTSA (The University of Texas at San Antonio). I am taking Intelligent Robotics, and Digital Signal Processing, both very involved classes. My professor for my robotics class was the professor I worked under for my Master's so needless to say I know that class is going to be rough. I also found out today that for the robotics class I am in charge of designing and leading a team on a project related to my dissertation. First off, I still think it's crazy to say that I'm working on a DISSERTATION I never thought I would ever be working on that. Secondly it's also crazy to be leading undergrads and master's students in a project. Just last year i was working under a PhD candidate, on his many projects for the lab and now I'm that guy. I have no idea what I should do for this project and that is pretty stressful. I have a few ideas but i guess now I have less than a week to come up with a project that will help my research, give me an A in the class and give the rest of the group an A too.
So here's to 2015 the start of a new adventure and many cool new projects and 10% more stress!!
